ABOUT US
Based in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, Impress Creative & Editorial is deeply committed to supporting inventive cultural production, publication and distribution. Although there are many strands to our work – music, film, photography and books – they are all combined in a celebratory approach to the arts and culture. Impress’s promise to our clients is to work collaboratively and professionally to deliver quality and value.
A former academic, Ismail Gareth Richards is a researcher, writer and editor who has long been associated with the arts scene. In the United Kingdom he worked for The Charlotte Press, Newcastle, a fine art imprint; with Cornerhouse, Manchester, coordinating specialist film festivals; and with Workers Film Association, an independent film and video production house. In Malaysia, he has coordinated international film programmes for Universiti Malaya and the National Film Development Corporation (FINAS). He is a photographer specialising in portraits of musicians.
Impress also draws on an established network of practitioners, designers, critics, promoters, journalists, arts managers and event organisers, whom it engages on a consultancy basis to suit our clients’ needs.
